Work on SanBlas pumping station31.030631.03.06:  Work starts on San Blas pumping station.

Excavation works have started for the building of a pumping station  to divert all the sewage outflow from San Blas to Mġarr ix-Xini in Għajnsielem thereby freeing this lovely sandy beach from the contamination resulting from such outflow.

The Nadur Local Council has long been planning and putting pressure on the competent bodies for such a project which now seems to materialise in the near future. Together with the restoration of Torri Sopu and the landscaping of the Qortin quarry these will give a new look to all the San Blas area.

The Nadur Local Council has just published the 20th issue of its info-magazine Ħidmietnaf'Isimkom. This month's issue gives an overview of all the recent activities organised by the Local Council namely Carnival 2006, the Christmas Market and the  meeting with Bishop Mario Grech, Gieħ in-Nadur 2005 together with all the projects that are under construction and the 3 projects to be  inaugurated soon - A modern clinic, at St Peter and St Paul Square, Peter Paul Camilleri ground to be finished in artificial turf and Ta Sopu tower in San Blas. Il-Berga - Modern Clinic19.03.06:  A Modern Clinic for Nadur

During the last weeks the Nadur Local Council started work to modernise and make the Government Clinic at Nadur accessible to all. It has been projected that all the work will be finished by the first week of April 2006.

Although the Council is not directly responsible for this place, it was decided to embark on this project. An agreement was signed with the Health Department and the Gozo Ministry to transfer this clinic to the ground floor with works being done by government and Local Council workers. These works include the installation of new electricity and water system, new apertures, a waiting room and a doctor’s room.

This clinic better known as ‘Berġa’ will be inaugurated in April.

Meeting the Bishop of Gozo Mario Grech14.03.06:  New Bishop visits the Local Council

On Monday 13th March 2006, the new Bishop of Gozo, Mons. Mario Grech visited the Nadur Local Council where he met the Council members. During this meeting His Excellency thanked the Local Council for all its initiatives towards the locality and encouraged the Councillors to continue their work for the common good of the community. The Councillors had the opportunity to discuss several issues about the locality, the Parish and other related problems.

At the end, the Mayor presented a memento of the occasion to the Bishop.

 

Work on ground for an artificial turf pitch06.03.06: Work starts for a new artificial turf pitch

 Work has just started at the football ground in Imgarr Road Nadur for a new artificial turf pitch. This will include the levelling of the surface in concrete, a new lighting system, the laying of artificial turf, the construction of two bowling pitches and a kiosk. All the work is being carried out in collaboration between the Nadur Local Council, the Nadur Youngsters Football Club and the Ministry for Gozo.

 Saturday 18th February from 10.30 pm onwards is Carnival Party time at La Grotta, Xlendi Gozo to start the Carnival celebration in style, costume and colour with DJ enzo; DJ simon and the trio in attendance.

Il-Wahx06.02.06: Spooky Night at the Nadur Carnival

 Etnika and Jimmy U Shabu are joining forces to put up a production, Lejla tal-Waħx, for this year's Nadur carnival on February 24 and 25, offering a combination of music, street theatre in "sombre and burlesque" costumes.

The 40-minute play is accompanied by music and is based on a story written specifically for the event, Etnika's project coordinator Andrew Alamango said.

"Based on historical facts, as well as popular folk beliefs and superstitions, the story narrates the birth of a creature known in Maltese folk culture as Il-wahx, who was born on a moonless night," he explained.

Nadur Carnival 2006 Brochure 03.02.06: Nadur Carnival 2006 Brochure

 A colourful brochure featuring all the activities to be organised by the Nadur Local Council for the NADUR Carnival 2006 was published today. Carnival activities this year are to start on Saturday 18th February at the MBC Theatre with the Competition for Nadur Carnival Queen & Maltese Carnival Queen 2006 and after a Carnival Party at La Grotta, Xlendi.

This brochure will be posted to all households in Gozo next week.

01.02.06: Annual Public Meeting

 In accordance with Section 70 of the Local Councils Act (Act No. XV of 1993), an annual public meeting is going to be held on Monday 13th February 2006 at Dr. Joe Debono Hall, Nadur Primary School at 7:00 p.m.

All residents whose name appear in the last Nadur Local Council's Electoral Register are urged to attend and to participate in this discussion.

All participants may put forward their suggestions for the council's consideration.

Gmendr Gassafetza Band  for the Nadur Carnival16.01.06: Gmendr Gassafetzas Band to take part in Nadur Carnival

 The Nadur Council has officially announced that the Swiss Band Gmendr Gassafetzas which plays Guggamusigg will be taking part, as guest, during the Nadur spontaneous Carnival from Sunday 26th to Tuesday 28th February, 2006. The special sound of the Guggamusigg is not only the result of the enormous rhythm section (several percussion instruments, big and small drums, bongos, bells, rattles etc), but also of the ensemble playing of 'laymen' and 'experts'.
