17.05.08: 6th DELICATA CLASSIC WINE FESTIVAL 2007
The 6th Delicata Classic Wine Festival 2008, in conjunction with the Nadur Local Counci, will be held from the 22nd to the 24th August. Starting on Friday 22nd August, the festival will go on each night and finish on Sunday 24th at Gnien il-Kunsill. The festival will start at 7.00pm
12.04.08: collection of recyclable refuse
The Nadur Local Council annouces that collection of recyclable refuse will be collected from outside your residence on a weekly basis. The starting date is not yet confirmed. The date will be announced, when it is confirmed, by means of Radju Luminaria and the church bulletin. Material collected will consist of paper, cardboard, plastic and metal. Items should be placed in the grey plastic bags provided. Those families who have not yet collected their bags , may do so from the Nadur Local Council office during office hours.
12.04.08: Annual Public Meeting
In accordance with Section 70 of the Local Councils Act (Act No. XV of 1993), an annual public meeting is going to be held on Monday 28th April 2008 at the Joe Tabone Hall, North Street at 8:00 p.m.
The budget for financial year which starts in April 2008 and ends up in March 2009 will be discussed, while details will be given about the different projects which are being planned.
All residents whose name appear in the last Nadur Local Council's Electoral Register are urged to attend and to participate in this discussion.
All participants may put forward their suggestions for the council's consideration.
17.03.08: hon. chris said sworn in the new cabinet
Hon Chris Said Lld, MP was sworn in the new Cabinet of Ministers as Parliamentary Secretary for Public Dialogue and Information in the Office of the Prime Minister, Hon. Lawrence Gonzi. He was elected for the first time to the parliament during the general elections held on Saturday 8th March 2008. Hon. Giovanna Debono was reinstated as Minister for Gozo thus making it up to two MP's from Nadur in the new cabinet. Click here for details.
16.03.08: the 6th nadur local council elected.
The 6th Nadur Local Council was officially announced yesterday after the counting of votes was held on Saturday 15th, following the elections held on Saturday 8th March.
Miriam Portelli will be the new mayor with Charles Frank Said as vice mayor. Candidates Elected:

27.01.08: Nadur organised carnival 2008
The 17th edition of the Nadur Organised Carnival was held this afternoon at the St Peter & St Paul Square. Featuring 45 items of competitions with dance companies, costumes, grotesque masks, floats, hilarious companies and other commissioned items, the programme lasted 5 hours and was screened live on Net TV. 17.01.08: 'Il-fwieha ta' marti' comedy at Nadur
“Il-Fwieha ta’ Marti', a comedy adapted for Carnival, is going to be held on Tuesday 29th January at 7.30.m. as part of the Nadur Carnival Programme 2008 in St Peter and St Paul Square under a big tent. Production by Valletta Dramatic Company and directed by Joe Izzo with George Micallef. Inez Farrugia, Joe Dimech, Patricia Mahoney, Joe Attard and Mary Grech as cast. This activity will be organised with the collaboration of Ghaqda Armar Triq Dicembru Tlettax. Tickets at €5 can be obtained from the Nadur Local Council
14.01.08: Nadur carnival press conference
Mayor Dr Chris Said addressed a press conference at the Auberge d'Italie where he gave details about the Nadur Carnival 2008 programme starting from the 25th January till the 5th February. This includes the Miss Queen Carnival contest; Organised Carnival on Sunday 27th and the special guests for this year are: The Yardbirds in Concert on Friday1st; The Swedish Group KROKUS in Concert on Saturday 2nd February and the International Group COAL on Sunday 3rd, always after 11.00pm under the tent. Minister Onor Francis Zammit Dimech presented a sponsorship for such events in the presence of Mark Storace who will feature with his group Krokus.
06.01.08: invitation to a concert
The Nadur Local Council cordially invites all musiclovers to a concert by the “Vera Chamber Choir” of the Holy Trinity Cathedral of Moscow and the “Gaulitanos Choir” from Gozo on Sunday 13th January 2007 at 6:00 p.m. at St. Peter & St. Paul Basilica, Nadur.
22.12.07 delivery of christmas presents
As part of these Christmas festivities the Local Council has donated hampers to all the sick and elderly in Nadur. These were delivered by Father Christmas who was also accompanied by Council members.
16.12.07: folk groups performances
4 Folk Groups will be performing from
10.30am to 12.30 am at St Peter and St Paul Square Nadur on Monday December 31st 2007. These groups are one from Austria D'Fuchsenbrindla Dance Group; 3 from Italy: Sbandieratori di Saronno; I Terrazzani di Trabia and I Brianzoli together with the Mnarja Folk Group.

DONATION OF CHRISTMAS HAMPERS
During these Christmas festivities the Local Council is donating hampers to all the sick and elderly who are unable to leave their homes. The Council has a list of all those who receive Holy Communion at home. If there is anybody who is not included in this list, one can phone at the Council’s office on 21558080 to be added.
MEAL FOR THOSE WHO LIVE ALONE
The Local Council, with the help of several sponsors, is organising a meal for those Nadurin who live alone on Friday 28th December at noon. Those interested are kindly asked to contact the office of the Local Council. Transport will be provided.
WEEKEND BREAK FOR THE ELDERLY IN MALTA
A weekend break for the Nadur elderly is going to be held on Friday 11th to Sunday 13th January 2008 at the Vivaldi Hotel in San Julians, Malta. Those interested are kindly asked to register at the office of the Local Council. Places are limited to the first 50 who register. Price for the weekend is Lm20 (€46.59) which includes hotel, transport, meals etc…
MARY ZERAFA LIBRARY
On the 20th November, the Local Council has inaugurated the extension of the library in Nadur where the space has been double. Works on this extension were carried out with funds which the Local Council got from the HSBC Bank Malta plc.
We strongly appeal to all those Nadurin who have books still in good condition to donate them to the library. These books can be left at the office of Local Council. In the meantime, the Local Council has bought a large amount of books which were added to the existing catalogue.
09.12.07: information meeting about ctv for Citrus farmers
A well attended information meeting about the CTV (Citrus Tristeza Virus), a deadly virus which has already devasted more than 15 million citrus trees in Spain, was held at the Joe Tabone Hall at 10.00am on Sunday 9th December, 2007. Dr. Marica Gatt (Director Plant Health); Mr Anthony Muscat (Surveillance and Inspectorate Unit) and Mr David Attard (Diagnosis Unit) addressed this meeting about the symptoms of this virus, how it spreads and the precautions to be taken by all to control it. 02.12.07: doctor and the Medics in concert at nadur
The English band 'Doctor and the Medics' will be in concert at Nadur on Saturday 8th December, 2007 at 9.00pm during the Christmas Market which is being held from Friday 7th till Sunday 9th. All free of charge. The bands' first release with IRS records was an E.P. called "Happy But Twisted," which shot to No.1 in the Indie charts. This was followed by possibly the bands finest record called "Miracle of the Age" which was produced by Andy Partridge of XTC. The bands next single was "Spirit in the Sky" which went to No.1 in 32 countries and sold over 1,000,000 copies worldwide. The band was formed, in order to win a £5 bet, in 1982 by ex scout leader, The Doctor and Steve Mcguire (The name "The Doctor," was assumed after the man had failed to gain entry into Medical School). 15 years later the Doctor is still waiting for his fiver! read more...
