The Old
Testament – An Avant-garde Stage Production in Twelve Episodes
The
Nadur Local Council in collaboration with the Embassy of the Federal
Republic in Valletta will be presenting a Twelve Theatre Productions about the Old Testament on a
monthly basis which will start with its first episode named "The Creation"
at the MBC theatre on the 14th April. The shows present the greatest
stories ever told, and aim to provide high calibre entertainment.
"A cycle of twelve monthly productions will
create a distinct “cult calendar” of spiritual and artistic
reflection. The Old Testament is an outstanding source of European
culture. We want to ask questions of current and common concern. As
Europe grows closer, it searches for common ground. Who are we?
Where do we come from? Where are we going to? Present day value
discourses focus on inter-religious relations as a central theme.
So… what are we talking about?
European art and culture have been completely soaked by the themes,
characters and the great stories of the Old Testament through the
centuries. In everyday life we experience this in the use of
numerous sayings revealing biblical roots. This secular tradition
allows us to take the Old Testament as one of the greatest pieces of
literature
ever written."
It will be an opportunity not to be missed.
