Christmas Market at Nadur 9-11 December 200512.12.05: Christmas Market at Nadur

 The first edition of a Christmas Market was scheduled for three days between 9-11 December 2005 at the Arc. Martin Camilleri Square. But the rain played havoc on Friday night with the programme being cancelled. However on Saturday, the Christmas atmosphere reigned superbly till late at night when it started raining heavily. On Sunday the market opened at 10.00am lasting till 8.00pm. click here for photos

Eva Sampieroni concert at the Nadur Basilica07.12.05: Eva Sampieroni at the Nadur Basilica

 Italian soprano Eva Sampieroni presented her "Concerto dell' Immacolata" at the Nadur Basilica today at the Nadur Basilica, Gozo accompanied on the organ by gozitan Mro. Stephen Attard. This concert sponsored by the Nadur Local Council, in collaboration with the Sliema Local Council and the Sliema Philharmonic Society, brought to end the programme of activities on the occasion of Council Day 2005. click here for photos

Under12 Tournament23.11.05: Nadur Local Council to host Baveno team

 The Nadur local Council is hosting a Baveno team for a Football tournament to be held between the 26-27th November 2005 in collaboration with the Nadur Youngsters FC. 2 teams from Nadur Youngsters A, Nadur Youngsters B, Baveno and Kercem Ajax will be taking part. Game are to be played at the Nadur Museum and Kercem Ajax ground. Click here for fixtures.

Brass Band22.11.05: Royal Military Band Special Treat

 The Royal Steel Military Band (from Trinidad and Tobago), and the Koo Nimo Trio (a group of Musicians from Ghana) will be performing at the Main Hall of Nadur primary School on Wednesday 23rd November, 2005 at 7:30pm. This event is being organised in collaboration with the Organizing Committee of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Conference that is being held in Malta. entrance is free.

 A thanksgiving Mass was celebrated by Archpriest Saviour Muscat and the Nadur clergy at the Nadur Basilica on the occasion of Council Day 2005. Besides the Nadur Local Council, Hon Mr Speaker Anton Tabone and MP Justine Caruana were present. The MUSEUM Boys and Girls Choir took part.

The presentation of Premju Gieh in-Nadur to Mons. Martin Portelli was then held at the MBC theatre during a programme featuring compositions from his repertoire which were sung by the Choir Jubilate Deo, Tenor Joe Buttigieg and  Bass Darren Vella directed by Mro. Can Joseph Grech and Mro. Antoine Theuma who led the quintet. Click here to see photos

Public meeting at Dr Joe Debono Hall.18.11.05: A Public Discussion

 A public discussion about the Council's projects for the next 3 years was held at the Dr. Joe Debono Hall at the Nadur Primary school. This was addressed by Mayor Dr Chris Said who gave details about the work that has been done since last year and the projections for next year. Since its foundation, the Council has tarmaced 37 roads. Having finished the restoration of ta' Sopu Tower, the Council is embarked to finish: December 13 Street; The landscaping of the Qortin quarry and the football ground at Mgarr Road in artificial turf in collaboration with the Nadur Youngsters FC and the Ministry for Gozo.

Opening of art & craft exhibition at Kenuna Tower18.11.05: Art & Craft Exhibition at Kenuna Tower

 An Art & Craft exhibition by Hermine and Tanja Van Poucke, together with a photo collection by Sammy Portelli was opened by Mayor Dr Chris Said at the Kenuna Tower. This exhibition will remain open until Sunday 27th November, 2005.visiting hours are between 8:00a.m. and 4:p.m. Click here for photos.

Soprano Eva Zampieron13.11.05: "Concerto dell' Immacolata" by Soprano Eva Zampieron

 The Italian Soprano Eva Zampieron will be holding her "Concerto dell' Immacolata" at the Nadur Basilica on Wednesday, 7th December, 2005 at the Nadur Basilica, Gozo. This Concert, scheduled to start at 19.00, will end the programme of activities on the occasion of Council Day 2005. Nadur Carnival photo05.11.05: The Nadur Carnival 2006 Programme 

 The Nadur Local Council has announced the Nadur Carnival programme. Carnival 2006 kicks off on Saturday 18th February with the Miss Nadur Carnival competition during a 'Carnival Night at La Grotta'. The Organised Carnival will be held on Sunday 19th February at St Peter and St Paul Square. The Children Carnival will be held on Friday 24th at noon, while a Carnival Ball in the Arc Martin Camilleri Square is scheduled for the evening in collaboration with "Sublime Events Management". The spontaneous carnival will take place from Friday 24th till Tuesday 28th till midnight.

The Gmendr Gassafetza Band from Germany will be the guest of the Local Council for the last 5 days of Carnival celebrations. Click here for regulations.

Hidmietnaf'isimkom October200503.11.05: October issue of Hidmietnaf'Isimkom published

 The Nadur Local Council has just published the 19th issue of its info-magazine Hidmietnaf'Isimkom.  It is an 8-page issue which gives an overview of all the work  carried out recently by the Local Council together with new initiatives taken, namely: Various applications for funds from EU programmes; Members in the European Charter, Agreement with Bucine, Italy; all tenders issued; the Youth Local Council and the Jum il-Kunsill programme 2005 read more

Gieh in-Nadur Shield21.10.05: Launch of Jum il-Kunsill programme.

 Nadur Local Council has published its programme for Jum il-Kunsill, starting on the 9th November and ending on the 4th December 2005 - featuring an art exhibition,  public debate, sports day for children,  hike, Seminar for youths, a weekend break, high mass on 19th November and a special show at Mnarja Band Club hall with the presentation of Gieh in-Nadur to Mons. Ramla Road20.10.05: Ramla Road to be resurfaced.

 The Nadur Local Council has been informed by the Ministry for Gozo that funds has been budgeted for the resurfacing in tarmac of Ramla Road. Designs, which include also a ‘walking and cycling route’ are almost ready for tenders to be issued in November and work to done in 2006.

Nadur local Council Emblem18.10.05: Computer Courses at the Local Council

 Nadur Local Council will be organising a series of computer courses for all, in collaboration with ST Microelectronics Foundation.  Only 8 participants will be accepted for each course for more individual attention. 

ST Microelectronics, sponsors of the course, will be offering new computers to be used during lessons.

 Only a nominal fee of LM5 will be paid for a 20 hour course held over 10 weeks. The course will be held weekly between 6:00 and 8:00pm.

Nadur local Council Emblem30.09.05: A Public Debate at the Council

 A public debate is going to be held on Monday 3rd October 2005, at the Local Council at 7:30pm about the control of traffic between Arc Martin Camilleri Square and December 13th Street near the Nadur Youngsters Football. All residents are cordially invited to attend and air views about the possible solution with suggestions before the Council takes its decision.

     {The Local Council is going to organise a folklore evening on Wednesday 5th October at December 13th street in front of the Nadur Youngsters Football club at 7.00pm. A folklore group from Coimbra, Portugal and the Mnarja Folk Group will entertain those present. Everybody is invited.

Gozo Bird Breeders Association24.09.05: A Bird Show at Mnarja Band Club

 The Nadur Local Council together with the Gozo Bird Breeders Association will be organising a bird show on Sunday 2nd October 2005 at the Mnarja Band Club. The exhibition will be open between 9:00 am and 4:00 p.m.   Those who wish to participate in this event should take their birds (born during this year) to the band club before 7:00 a.m. on Sunday 2nd October.

Hidmietnaf'isimkom September200516.09.05: September issue of Hidmietnaf'Isimkom published

 The Nadur Local Council has just published the 18th issue of its info-magazine Hidmietnaf'Isimkom. This is the first issue since the Local Council election held last March 2005. It gives an overview of all the work which was carried out in the first months by the 5th Local Council and the special activities held namely: Mnarja 2005; the 25th FECC International Convention held last May-June in Nadur; the inauguration of a Carnival Sculpture and the 3rd Delicata Classic wine Festival held over 3 days at Gnien il-Kunsill. read more

Winefestival05 Friday19th August20.08.05:  The Delicata Classic Wine Festival -First day

The 3rd Delicata Classic Wine Festival in Nadur, Gozo  officially started yesterday for 3 days with an entertaining programme presented by Miriam Christine Borg. The festival starts at 7.00pm with wine being served till 11.30. Patrons can buy a glass for LM3 and and enjoy the food from the different food stalls. click here to see photo album

On the occasion of the 3rd Delicata Classic Wine Festival in Nadur, Gozo on the 19th to 21st August, Nadur Local Council officially launched the entertainment programme for the 3 days running. Fireworks at the Main square13.07.05:  Nadur Local Council publishes its Summer'05 Activities

The Local Council has just published its Summer'05 activities in collaboration with other local association:

  • 28, 29, 30 & 31 July: Summerfest'05 with the Nadur Youngsters FC at Dahlet Qorrot and Gnien il-Kunsill. Planned activities are - Party for youths; Boat Party, tombla, tomato fight and others.

  • 12th August: Variety Show at St Peter and St Paul Square

  • 19, 20 & 21 August: The 3rd Edition of Delicata Classic Wine Festival at Gnien il-Kunsill.

  • 28th August: Tombola & Variety Show at Gnien il-Kunsill by the Fireworks Committee.

  • 2, 3 & 4 th September:Activities at  San Blas near the garden and the inauguration of the newly refurbished Ta' Sopu Tower

Nadur local Council Emblem09.07.05:  New Public Convenience and a New Sub-Committee

  • The new public convenience at North Street, which is accessible for all, will be officially opened as from Monday 11th July 2005.

  • In the last Council meeting, a new sub-Committee was formed to plan the activities for the Council Day Celebrations in November and to assign the honour of "Gieh in-Nadur".
