Nadur Local Council

The Local Council is collecting presents such as shampoo, toilet paper, nappies, liquid soap and other detergents. These will go to Dar tal-Providenza. Anyone who did not already put the present under the Christmas Tree at the Christamas Market or take it to the local Council premises or anyone who wishes to participate, can buy one of these presents and take it to the Local Council till the 2nd of January.

A tree planting ceremony was held at Ghajnsielem on Wednesday as part of the celebrations commemorating the 15th Anniversary of the setting up of Local Councils in Malta and Gozo. This was organised by the Parliamentary Secretary Chris Said. Ms Miriam Portelli, Mayor of Nadur, was among the mayors who planted a tree.

Council Day 2008 was marked with a short programme featuring a performance by Karl Said on the violin, a presentation by the Council Youth Group and their projects, the Presentation of certificates to participants of Summer courses & First Aid courses, a recognition to Carmine Russo from Cicciano, Italy for his support through out the Twinning and a Commemorative gift to the Hon. Dr. Chris Said for his Contribution to Nadur as Mayor (click here for photos)

Mayor Miriam Portelli this morning inaugurated a Photo Exhibition displaying works by photographers from Nadur namely: Anthony Said, Martin Attard, Sam Portelli and Anthony Cassar at the Joe Tabone Hall. This exhibition will be opened during office hours till the 23rd November 2008. (click here for photos)

Saturday evening, Dr. Chris Said was honoured with the “Gieħ in-Nadur” Award by Mayor Miriam Portelli during a concert held by the Mnarja Band under the direction of Mro. Joseph Grech at the MBC Theatre, Nadur. Peter Paul Vella and Lily Said read the profile. This was the 11th edition of Gieħ in-Nadur Award which also started the Council Day celebrations which will last till the 23rd November 2008. (click here for photos)

A programme of activities has been officially announced by the Council for the celebration of 'Council Day 2008'. This programme includes: 'Gieħ in-Nadur' to Onor. Chris Said; Photo Exhibition; Blood Donation; Exhibition of Military and Classic Cars; Thanks Giving Mass; The Joe Tabone Football tournament; Sports days at MUSEUM; Activity for Year 5 Students re: Eco Gozo and Presentation of the Council Youth Group. read more.

Amongst the activities being organized on the occasion of Nadur Council Day, the Council is organizing a Blood Donation activity at Nadur on Sunday 16th November 2008. Those persons aged 18 and over interested in donating blood are kindly requested to contact the Nadur Local Council before Friday 24th October 2008.

The Nadur Local Council has issued the application form for nomination and regulations for the Premju Gieh in-Nadur 2008 which will be confered during the Council Day celebrations in November. Closing date for applications is 15th October 2008. Applications can be obtained fron the Council's office or downloaded here.

The Nadur Local Council notifies that sealed tenders will be received in the tender box at the Nadur Local Council, North Street, Nadur NDR 1222 up to noon of Monday 13th October, 2008.

23.08.08: The 6th Delicata Classic Wine Festival

The 6th Delicata Classic Wine Festival in Nadur, Gozo officially started yesterday for 3 days with an entertaining programme. The festival starts at 7.00pm with wine being served till 11.30. Patrons can buy a glass for €10 and and enjoy the food from the different food stalls. A shuttle service from Mgarr harbour to Nadur will be available throughout the festival from 6.30pm till 1.00am for €3.50 return. Admission is free. click here to see photos.

The Nadur Local Council has won third placing in the competition, European Destination of Excellence - Intangible Heritage, namely for the spontaneous carnival this year. Last year it won first place for Best Emerging Rural Zone within the Destination of Excellence. Hon. DR Chris Said Parliamentary Secretary had a consultation meeting with the Nadur Local Council about reforms to be carried out in the operations of the Local Councils. Last Saturday, he lauched a website www.kunsillilokali2015.gov.mt, a freephone 8007 2340 and an email address kunsillilokali2015@gov.mt for all the public to send his comments or suggestion about the Local Council towards such reforms.

The 15th edition of the Agricultural Show was inaugurated at Dun Martin Camilleri Square by Hon Dr Chris Said, Parliamentary Secretary on Saturday 21st June and then closed on Sunday morning by Hon Giovanna Debono, Minister for Gozo, who gave mementos to all the 156 exhibitor who partecipated this year with their produce.
